Ketua Harian PB PON Papua Yunus Wonda merespon positif usulan sejumlah KONI Provinsi yang baru-baru ini mengusulkan perpanjangan pendaftaran media. Hal tersebut sebagaimana masukan sejumlah KONI Provinsi dalam ‘Temu Wicara Wicara Virtual’ yang diadakan oleh Bidang Media dan Publikasi KONI Pusat serta dipandu langsung oleh Wakil Ketua Bidang (Wakabid) Media dan Humas KONI Pusat Ayu Dyah Pasha, Rabu (15/7/2020).
Dimana KONI Provinsi merasa kesulitan dengan persyaratan wartawa peliput PON yang harus melampirkan Uji Kompetensi Wartawan (UKW) atau Uji Kompetensi Jurnalis (UKJ). Mengingat tak semua wartawa peliput yang masuk dalam kontingen KONI Provinsi, belum memiliki UKW/UKJ
Kendati demikian, kepastian perpanjangan masih akan dibahas dan diputuskan bersama dalam virtual meeting antara KONI Pusat, KONI Provinsi se-Indonesia, PWI Pusat serta Dewan Pers di Jakarta awal bulan depan.
“Terkait dengan permintaan KONI Provinsi yang mengusulkan perpanjangan waktu pendaftaran, saya pikir tidak masalah. Karena pendaftaran ini bukan sesuatu yang mendesak”.
“PON di Papua ini kan digelar pada 2021 sehingga kita merasaa perlu juga diberi ruang kepada seluruh media untuk mendaftar dengan memenuhi syarat yang ada. Hanya nanti kita putuskan saat rapat di Kantor KONI Pusat,” terang Yunus, Rabu (22/7/2021), di Jayapura.
Menurut dia, PB PON Papua sepakat bila syarat dalam pendaftaran media peliput PON dibuat sesederhana mungkin. Hanya saja, bila waktu pendaftaran diperpanjang, maka seluruh media wajib mengikuti persyaratan yang ditetapkan.
“Sebab percuma jika diperpanjang berbulan-bulan tapi syaratnya tidak diikuti. Sebab syarat ini pun merupakan standar baku yang biasanya ditetapkan pada iven-iven seperti ini untuk menjamin bahwa pers yang datang meliput adalah kredibel dan berkompeten”.
Yunus pada kesempatan itu juga mengingatkan media lokal Papua agar dapat memenuhi standar persyaratan yang ada. Kendati pun ada wacana perpanjangan, ia pun mengharapkan media lokal segera melakukan pendaftaran.
“Sebab bila sudah ditutup maka tak bakal dibuka kembali untuk alasan apa pun. Jangan merasa saya media lokal harus diprioritaskan, tidak ada itu. Semua tetap ikuti standar yang diberikan. Sebab kalau pendaftaran sudah tutup maka tidak kita buka ruang lagi,” pungkasnya.

On the occasion, Yunus also reminded Papuan local media to meet the standard requirements. Despite the extension discourse, he also expects local media to register immediately.
"Because when it is closed it will not reopen for any reason. Do not feel my local media should be prioritized, no it is not. All keep up with the standards given. Because if the registration is closed then we do not open the room anymore, "he concluded.
