Papua Bangkit Stadium located in Kampung Harapan, Jayapura Regency, was confirmed to be renamed on October 20, 2020, to coincide with the inauguration of all venues of National Sports Week (PON) XX 2021.
The new name of the pride stadium in Papua is Lukas Enembe who currently serves as Governor of Papua Province.
The award of Lukas Enembe as the name of the stadium is an award and respect for the leader of Papua in two periods, for his success in delivering Papua Province as the host of National Sports Week XX 2021.
"We have met with the governor with all Regional Apparatus Organization and it was agreed that the inauguration of the name change of Papua Bangkit Stadium to Lukas Enembe Stadium on October 20, 2020".
"In that activity, the Governor will inaugurate the use of all National Sports Week venues that have been completed 100 percent done," explained the Head of Papua Sports and Youth Office Papua Alexander Kapisa, in Jayapura, Wednesday (16/9/2020).
According to Alex, the Papua Provincial Government is currently waiting for a legal opinion from the regulatory side regarding the proposal to change the name of Papua Bangkit Stadium to Lukas Enembe Stadium, through local regulations (Perda).
This regulation has been proposed to the Ministry of Agriculture, so that if the register number is issued, then the change of stadium name can already be processed.
"In essence we are optimistic before October 20, the process of administration of the name change of Papua Bangkit Stadium is definitely completed. And why do we choose the date of October 20, 2020 inauguration, because it was originally designated as the opening day of National Sports Week XX 2020".
"But with the National Sports Week postponed to 2021, we are gaining momentum this year for the governor to formalize the name change of the stadium and all the venues that have been worked on," he concluded.
Separately, Papua Governor Lukas Enembe confirmed that he will be present to inaugurate all National Sports Week venues that have been completed by third parties, as well as the renaming of Papua Bangkit Stadium.
