The Papua Provincial Government is likely to take further steps to evaluate the new normal adaptation program that, in the past month, has been implemented throughout the Cenderawasih Earth.
This is due to corona transmission throughout the region, more specifically Jayapura City which is increasingly worrying. In recent weeks, the number of transmissions and even deaths from Covid-19 has increased rapidly.
"I think so (the implementation of the new normal adaptation program will be evaluated) at a meeting with the relevant parties on September 29, 2020, given the rapidly increasing number of transmissions and death rates," explained the Chairman of Papua's Covid-19 Prevention and Prevention Task Force, Welliam R. Manderi, Thursday (9/17/2020), in Jayapura.
Welliam even mentioned the possibility to reduce air transportation to and from Papua, if the rate of transmission continues. However, the decision must still be discussed with all relevant parties.
"If there is a plan to reduce departures then there should be considerations in terms of health but also the economy, because people have to live," he said.
He added that what is feared today is the transmission of Covid-2. This is very likely to happen, because the level of community discipline in carrying out health protocols in Papua is still very low.
The public still considers the current situation mediocre. So still found people who are in activity, do not wear masks, do not even keep a distance in the crowd.
"That's why discipline for people to implement current health protocols is very important."
"Here we ask for the role of religious leaders, community leaders, indigenous figures and other related parties to help the government socialize healthy living in the awareness of covid-19 transmission," he said.
