Regional Secretary of Papua Doren Wakerkwa reminded the seven newly appointed Regents (interim) Officials to encourage the issuance of the Regional Head Regulation (Perkada) on the enforcement of health protocol disciplines.
This aims that Covid-19 transmission in its territory, specifically in the regions that hold elections, can be minimized.
"The regulation contains sanctions that are also given to violators. And indeed it is an instruction from the Minister of Home Affairs," explained Doren in Jayapura, Wednesday.
He said that although the existence of Regional Head Regulation is believed to be able to minimize the spread of Covid-19 during the election.
Nevertheless, regents must also visit all pairs of prospective regents and vice regents, in order to invite them to create safe and peaceful elections and free from Covid-19.
"Because the main task of the regents is to ensure elections run safely and peacefully but also free from Covid-19 contagion," he said.
Just known, from the 11 districts that held simultaneous elections in 2020, there are only two regions that have issued health protocol discipline enforcement procedures namely Waropen and Keerom districts.
