Covid-19 transmission in Papua to date has shown no signs of declining cases.
Recorded as of Monday (10/26/2020), there were a total of 9,206 cases with Jayapura being the highest, which had 4,614 cases.Mimika Regency has 2410 cases, Jayapura Regency 587 cases, Biak Regency 503 cases and Nabire 320 cases.
In this way, the provincial government will now be more active in socializing the dangers of Covid-19 transmission to public facilities, including places of worship, so that people are more disciplined in carrying out health protocols.
"Because if all people regularly carry out health protocols, then transmission can certainly be suppressed," explained Regional Secretariat of Papua Doren Wakerkwa in Jayapura, Tuesday (10/27/2020).
Although contagion is still high, the Papua Provincial Government will still extend the implementation of adaptation of the new living order in dealing with Covid-19 transmission, for the next month.
This is as a result of discussions with Regional Leadership Coordination Forum of Papua, as well as regents and mayors.
"We have had an evaluation meeting, it has been decided to re-extend the implementation period of the adaptation of the new living order for the next month," he said.
"Indeed this number has the potential to rise steadily to reach ten thousand cases in the next few days. But if we are all disciplined among others diligent in washing hands using soap and applying a clean lifestyle, wearing masks, I think the transmission of this virus can be suppressed," he concluded.
