Welcome to the Sea Toll at Depapre Port, Jayapura Regency, this is reminiscent of the end of World War II, in which Allied forces landed their large Warships in Papua at the eastern tip of the Archipelago, but the events of Wednesday, January 27, 2021 are a new history for Papua to have a port with a shady bay at the end of the Pacific that is carried by ships with a capacity of 3,000 GWT carrying more staples to move the wheels of Papuan economy.
Assistant Regional Secretary of Papua for Economic Affairs and Social Welfare Dr. Drs. Muhammad Musa'ad, M.Si representing the Governor and Deputy Governor of Papua welcomed the arrival of the Sea Toll Ship berth to give great appreciation to all stakeholders of Central Government, Jayapura Regency Government and other agencies that successfully landed the ship supplying this economic necessity.
Dr. Drs. Muhammad Musa'ad, M.Si explained that the Sea Toll route that enters Depapre Port is a new route (route T-9) which includes: Merauke - Kokas - Sorong - Supiori - Depapre Jayapura , the concept of Sea Toll is to accelerate the distribution of logistics materials connected to several ports with the principle of Unloading and Loading means that there are staple commodities brought from one region and there are other commodities brought back, so as to reduce the cost / cost of distribution, for example rice from Merauke, before the Sea Toll, we must bring it to Surabaya first and then sent back to Jayapura, but with the Sea Toll, Merauke rice can go directly to Jayapura without having to go to Suaraya, and then distribute to various regions in the central mountains or northern regions of Papua , the return can be filled with superior commodities from Jayapura or surrounding areas such as sand materials etc. in Merauke difficult to obtain and other commodities will thus be able to suppress price disparity and can be related to other commodities originating from outside Papua / West Papua. The opening of Depapre Port which has begun construction since 2009 as one of the alternative ports other than Jayapura city can also move the economic sector in the local area, especially in the port area. There are many technical things that need to be addressed immediately be it facilities in the port environment, road access and other infrastructure that has been identified along with multi stakeholder so that the system is worked together in order to accelerate its completion. Musaad established the Sea Toll is one of the stimulants of economic drivers in Papua so he invited all businesses to take advantage of this opportunity and the port local community provides full support by maintaining the country's vital facilities / objects well for the benefit of the people in Papua.
At the launch of the Sea Toll in addition to the presence of officials from the provincial government was also present the regent of Jayapura , along with its ranks and other related stakeholders.
It should be said that Depapre port is Multipurpose Pier II length150 m, Cement Pier 206 m, Liquid bulk pier 124 m and container pier 206 m in the shady bay area is the largest port in the Asia Pacific region, and it will be the one of the Port "Hub Liaison" in the Pacific region, hopefully (*)
