The Papua Provincial Government officially imposed a ban on Eid al-Fitr 1442 Hijri homecoming to prevent the transmission of Coronavirus.
For those who are reckless, there are sanctions in the form of a ban on returning to Papua within six months of homecoming.
This decision was immediately ratified in a circular of the Governor of Papua, which will be disseminated to the municipal and district governments.
"There are strict sanctions for people who remain insistent (force themselves) to go home, i.e. should not return to Papua within 6 months. That is, we ask that no community come out for any reason to leave and so on".
"So let's all keep the situation well, so that fasting goes well and they (Moslems) can celebrate Eid al-Fitr well," said Deputy Governor, after leading a coordination meeting on security synergy and law enforcement welcoming the holy month of Ramadan and the homecoming of Eid al-Fitr 2021 in Jayapura, Monday (12/4/2021).
This ban, according to Klemen, is due to the strong desire of local governments to reduce the number of COVID-19 transmissions which in the coming months will hold National Sports Week XX 2021.
"Because in the past the transmission of COVID-19 here (Papua) did not exist. Now this starts from people who participate in religious activities outside Papua. This experience made a lesson, so homecoming for Eid ul Fitr 2021 not be allowed," he said.
Therefore, added Deputy Governor Klemen, it immediately ordered agencies related to air and sea transportation modes to be firm in monitoring the inflow of people.
"Once again there will be a circular issued by the Governor so that the relevant agencies can conduct surveillance and even execution of the circular," he concluded.
