The Papua Takraw Contingent officially underwent a try out in Sulawesi, in order to mature and measure the ability of athletes before heading to national sports week XX, October 2021.
The athletes and officials were released by the Chairman of the Indonesian Takraw Association (PSTI) Papua, Elia Loupatty, Saturday (6/12/2021), at the KONI Papua Office, Jayapura.
"By God's grace I released the Papuan Takraw contingent undergoing a try out in Sulawesi," said Elia Loupatty during the release of the contingent marked by the beating of Tifa accompanied by KONI Papua Public Relations, Kadkis Matdoan.
The Papuan contingent plans to visit a number of Sepak Takraw training facilities in West Sulawesi and surrounding areas.
In terms of the quality of opponents and training places, West Sulawesi is considered to have greatly fulfilled the requirements to measure the ability of Papuan Takraw athletes.
"The plan is that Papuan Takraw athletes will train until August 2021. They will leave tomorrow and must return in August".
"Because upon returning to Papua must complete the training here, then the introduction of the venue. That way hopefully, these athletes will produce better performances," hope Elijah.
On that occasion, Elia obliged Takraw athletes to claim medals, as they competed in their "own home".
Meanwhile, Secretary of PSTI Papua, Ahmad Yamin asked for the support of Papuan community prayers, so that Papuan Takraw athletes can try out well in Sulawesi.
"Hopefully upon returning to Papua, the athletes can measure themselves to be able to achieve the best achievements in National Sports Week".
"Because of this try out there are many corrections, inputs and evaluations that can be done to make the athletes better, when competing in the upcoming national event," he concluded.
