A total of 26 swimming athletes officially started training at the Papua Aquatic Arena, Kampung Harapan, Sentani, Jayapura Regency, Friday (7/30/2021).
The athletes were accepted by the Head of the Sports and Youth Department of Papua Province Alexander Kapisa, who is also the person in charge of the venue.
In his speech, Alexander advised that athletes can train well in order to achieve maximum results in National Sports Week XX next October.
Moreover, the athletes will train at national and international standard venues, which have never even been used by other parties.
"Therefore, we hope to give Papuans pride with achievements at National Sports Week. So that achievement will be proof that the swimming pool with national standards is appropriate and worthy to be in Papua" concluded the Head of the Sports and Youth Department.
Papuan athletes who undergo training will participate in maintaining cleanliness and all equipment and supporting facilities of Papua Aquatic Arena.
"This swimming stadium cost approximately IDR 401 billion. So, let's keep all the equipment and supporting infrastructure in this swimming stadium together," he urged.
After the welcoming ceremony, athletes, coaches and officials of the swimming sport toured the entire stadium. Alexander explains the entire function and usefulness of each available facility.
