JAYAPURA - The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs Republic of Indonesia will preparea social barnin Jayapura City, then be used in handling and providing assistance for disaster victims.
This affirmation was conveyed by Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, while looking at the handling of flood and landslide victims in Jayapura City, Thursday (13/1/2022).
She hopes that the place or location of the social barn will be prepared by the Mayor of Jayapura.
"But later we will make it in Sentani (Jayapura Regency) and Mimika Regency. So, at any time it will be very close to helping disaster victims. We have a warehouse in Bekasi very far away," explained the Minister.
Meanwhile, Mensos Risma visited five districts affected by floods and landslides in Jayapura City. The visit was received by the Mayor of Jayapura accompanied by the Papua Police Chief and other relevant officials.
During the visit, the Minister of Social Affairs also handed over a total of IDR1.3 billion in aid to victims of floods and landslides. Among them, namely the provision of compensation for the seven victims who died, 500 packages, hygiene kits, tents, mattresses, school supplies and materials (ready-to-cook food).
"This assistance can still be added as long as there are still survivors of floods and landslides in the post. And this assistance is the responsibility of the Ministry of Social Affairs, "said Risma.
While based on data from BMKG rainfall will be predicted to still occur until March, thus Risma urged the public to be aware. ***
