JAYAPURA - Volunteers for victims after natural disasters are again trained, in order to detect the psychosocial impact felt by victims in Papua.
Training by the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Papua Province, in Jayapura, Wednesday (22/6/2022).
Head of BPBD Papua Welliam Robert Manderi hopes that the training will allow disaster volunteers to understand the actions that must be taken to deal with victims after the disaster.
"The geographical conditions in Papua are prone to natural disasters. That is, the negative psychological reaction to the disaster is natural for everyone to experience it".
"So this is the role of disaster volunteers to see the condition of the victims when they are in the refuge as well as provide trauma healing or selection of conditions for disaster victims," said Welliam.
According to Welliam, the training aims to provide understanding and form understanding, which will become the basis for minimizing the impact of the psychology of disaster victims.
Thus, disaster volunteers can immediately provide assistance for victims who are psychosocially affected and whose psyche is shaken.
"That's why we also appeal to BPBD in the city and district to have psychosocial volunteers after the disaster".
"This training will certainly have a positive impact on disaster victims for volunteers," he said. ***
