JAYAPURA – The Social, Population and Civil Registration Department of Papua (Dinsosdukcapil) announced that the number of electronic ID card recordings has begun to increase in 2022, especially in mountainous areas.
The total mandatory electronic ID cards in Papua have as many as 3,329,605 people, a total of 1,499,170 of them have been recorded.
Head of the Social, Population and Civil Registry Department of Papua Province, Rebekah Haluk gave an example as in Paniai Regency, now the Electronic ID Card recording rate reaches 6.12 percent, then Intan Jaya by 8.74 percent while Yahukimo is 7.09 percent.
"Even though it was a bit difficult to do recording, it can be said the recording was zero. This is due to the difficulty of the flight, then safety issues and other factors".
"However, this year in the Lapago and Meepago areas, we are pursuing it continuously so that there is progress and until now we are still boosting the recording," explained Rebekah in Jayapura, Friday (24/6/2022).
Until now, the recording of electronic ID cards has reached 45.03 percent. This figure is claimed to have increased rapidly from the previous year.
Various policies were taken by the Social, Population and Civil Registration Department of Papua to improve recording, one of which ordered one of the heads of field to have an office in Paniai Regency.
"I sent the head of field to chase the electronic ID card recording rate. It has been about six months since he had stayed in Paniai. There has now been a lot of progress but we appeal to the Population and Civil Registration Department in the district and city to help socialize the importance of recording electronic ID cards".
"All elements of the government have an obligation to support the Population and Civil Registration Department so that people can access public services, especially in conflict areas, because all services are now based on electronic ID cards," she said. ***
