JAYAPURA - In order to celebrate the 77th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, the Papua Provincial Government in various related events will distribute as many as 2,000 red and white flags to the residents of Papua.
It is part of the movement of 10 million red and white flags by the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, in Merauke Regency on August 12, 2022.
"Actually, it is a national agenda, the Papua Provincial Government will be present in Merauke. So that the Regional Secretary of Papua and the team will join this event," explained Assistant for the Economy and Welfare of the Papua Regional Secretary, Muhammad Musaad, in Jayapura, Monday (8/8/2022).
Meanwhile, the 2,000 red and white flags will be distributed to the public, half of them will be given by the Central Government, while the rest will be prepared by the Papua Provincial Government.
"So that in the early stages we prepare 1,000 flags, then these flags will be distributed to the people of Papua," he said.
Musaad on that occasion appealed to all residents, entrepreneurs, offices and others to be able to fly the red and white flag until August 31 to respect the struggle of heroes in winning the independence of the Indonesian nation.
"In addition to the flag, we also asked to install banners with red and white nuances. Our task at the moment is only to fill the independence day by putting up a red and white flag".
"In essence, in commemoration of the independence day, let's celebrate it by participating in development in the region and also putting up flags as a form of respect for the heroes," he said. ***
