JAYAPURA - A total of 393 pilgrims who have arrived at the Makassar Embarkation Hajj Dormitory, received 520 copies of the Qur'an from the Papua Provincial Government.
In a press release in Jayapura, Thursday, the handover of the Qur'an according to the Assistant for Economic Affairs and Welfare of the Papuan Regional Office, Muhammad Musa'ad, was a mandate from Papua Governor Lukas Enembe as a form of love to pilgrims from Papua.
"We received a mandate from the Governor to give the Qur'an as a tribute to all pilgrims and as a form of love," explained Musa'ad.
Still according to Musa'ad by giving the Qur'an, it is hoped that it will be a handle to then be able to practice it in daily life.
"The Qur'an already contains universal values that can be applied by all people," he said.
The Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Papua Province, who in this case was represented by the Head of the Hajj and Bimas Islam Musa Narwawan, expressed his gratitude to the Papua Provincial Government and PPIH Debarkasi Makassar for providing services to pilgrims from their region.
"We hope that the pilgrims will get their pilgrimage and become a good example of Muslims in their home," he said.
Previously, as many as 393 Pilgrims of Papua Province who were members of the UPG 15th Batch consisting of 389 pilgrims and 4 officers departing from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia arrived at Sultan Hassanudin Makassar International Airport at 12:55 local time and then the pilgrims left for the Sudiang Embarkation Hajj Dormitory, Makassar on Wednesday(10/8). ***
