JAKARTA – For the first time, Papua Province has been nominated for the 2025 Regional Financial Access Acceleration Team (TPAKD) Award, organized by the Financial Services Authority of the Republic of Indonesia (OJK-RI).(October 10)
On this occasion, the newly inaugurated Governor of Papua, Police Commissioner General (Ret.) Matius D. Fakhiri, S.IK., M.H., personally attended the 2025 TPAKD National Coordination Meeting held in Jakarta. The Governor was accompanied by the Acting Regional Secretary of Papua and the Head of the Bureau of Economic and Development Administration of the Papua Provincial Secretariat.
The event, initiated by OJK-RI, was attended by the Chairman and Board Members of OJK-RI, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, the Minister of Tourism, the Vice Minister of Home Affairs, the Vice Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs, the Head of the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency, members of the Board of Governors of Bank Indonesia, as well as 14 Governors and 232 Regents/Mayors from across Indonesia.
The 2025 TPAKD National Coordination Meeting carried the spirit of collaboration to expand financial access in the regions, strengthen public financial inclusion, and discuss the preparation of the TPAKD Roadmap 2026–2030 as a strategic guideline for sustainable financial access development.
During the event, OJK also presented the 2025 TPAKD Awards to 15 recipient regions and officially launched the TPAKD Roadmap 2025–2029 as a new policy direction supporting the implementation of the national strategic program Asta Cita.
Governor Matius Fakhiri expressed his pride in Papua’s inclusion among the top 10 nominees for the 2025 TPAKD Award. He emphasized that this achievement marks an important milestone in strengthening an inclusive financial ecosystem in Papua.
“Papua’s inclusion for the first time in the TPAKD Award nomination serves as a strong motivation for us to continue enhancing cross-sector collaboration. The Papua Provincial Government is committed to expanding financial access at all levels so that Papuans can experience the benefits of an inclusive and equitable economy,” said Governor Fakhiri.
Meanwhile, Dr. Andri, M.Si., Head of the Bureau of Economic and Development Administration at the Papua Provincial Secretariat — the technical agency coordinating TPAKD acceleration across government and financial industry sectors — presented positive developments in Papua’s financial sector, particularly following the formation of new autonomous regions.
According to Dr. Andri, there has been significant growth in the activities of financial service industries in Papua. As of 2024, the Province of Papua is home to 16 Commercial Banks (both Conventional and Sharia), 6 Rural Banks (BPR) (Conventional and Sharia), 3 Securities Companies, 9 Mutual Fund Selling Agents (APERD), 12 Financing Companies, 10 Life Insurance Companies, 15 General Insurance Companies, 1 Pawnshop, 1 Venture Capital Company, 2 Guarantee Companies, and 1 Microfinance Institution.
“These data show that Papua’s financial industry ecosystem continues to grow and diversify. Moving forward, we will strengthen synergy between the financial industry and the regional government to ensure that access to financial services reaches all communities, even in the most remote areas,” said Dr. Andri.
The Governor’s presence at the 2025 TPAKD National Coordination Meeting reflects a concrete commitment to accelerating regional financial access to support economic growth and improve social welfare. Going forward, TPAKD will continue to optimize funding sources to expand productive financing — particularly for MSME development and priority sectors in Papua, such as agriculture, fisheries, and plantations — in support of realizing a Progressive and Harmonious New Papua Transformation. ***
