JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the strategic role of the Inspectorate in ensuring clean, transparent, and accountable governance. This commitment was underscored during the Data Updating Meeting on Follow-Up Actions of Audit Results and the Regional Governance Oversight Coordination Meeting, held over two days in Sentani.
Papua Provincial Inspector Danny Korwa stated that the event was part of continuous efforts to build a more effective and responsive oversight system aligned with the dynamics of regional development. He emphasized that the Inspectorate’s role has evolved beyond that of a mere examiner to become a strategic partner in advancing governance practices.
“The Inspectorate functions not only as a supervisory body but also as a quality assurance and early warning system to prevent potential irregularities before they occur,” said Danny on Saturday (November 1, 2025).
He explained that the meeting produced four strategic measures to strengthen coordination between the provincial and regency/municipal inspectorates. These include enhancing technology-based reporting systems, strengthening auditor capacity, conducting cross-sector thematic oversight, and optimizing the follow-up process for audit findings.
According to Danny, collaboration among inspectors is essential to accelerate the completion of audit recommendations and to strengthen public trust in government institutions.
“Strong oversight performance forms the foundation of credible and trustworthy governance,” he stated.
He added that the Papua Provincial Government remains committed to supporting institutional development and enhancing human resource capacity in the area of supervision, in line with the principles of good governance.
Through continuous synergy and innovation, Papua aims to become a model for the implementation of professional, transparent, and improvement-oriented internal oversight within regional government systems. ***
