JAYAPURA - Acting Governor of Papua Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun officially inaugurated Derek Hegemur as Acting Secretary of Papua, on Friday (20/10/2023) afternoon, on the 9th floor, Governor's Office, Jayapura City.
The inauguration of Derek Hegemur who previously served as Assistant for General Affairs of the Papua Regional Secretary, in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 3/2018 concerning the Acting Regional Secretary and Home Affairs Letter No. 100.2.2.6/55.55/SJ dated October 17, 2023.
A tough task awaits Derek, but overseeing the neutrality of civil servants in the upcoming 2024 election year is one of the focuses that must be the main concern for the creation of conducive elections in the Cenderawasih Earth region.
"Currently, we has entered the political year of the 2024 elections, the stages have begun. For this reason, I hope that the Acting Secretary of Papua and all civil servants in Papua can maintain neutrality and create a conducive situation in the community," explained Ridwan when delivering his speech.
Acting Secretary Derek Hegemur to the press ensured that he was ready to oversee the neutrality of civil servants of the provincial government, in addition to the main task of being the driving force of theRegional Work Unit in running government, development and community services.
He also invited the civil servants of the Papua Provincial Government not to get involved in practical politics because they have the potential to be sanctioned.
"Being a civil servant means that the person concerned works in accordance with their respective duties and functions by not participating in the situation (election) today".
"I hope civil servants must maintain neutrality in the political year. Civil servants work according to guidelines and norms, and as a locomotive so that elections run smoothly and well," he said. ***
