JAYAPURA - The Papua Provincial Government will maximize supervision in border areas to prevent illicit circulation and smuggling of marijuana from Papua New Guinea.
According to the Daily Executive Head of the Papua Province Border and Foreign Cooperation Agency (BPKLN) Dolfinus Kareth, supervision will be carried out with related agencies and the Coordination Forum for Regional Leaders.
"Not only on land, but we will also conduct surveillance in the sea area. So that it can prevent the entry of these illicit goods," explained Dolfinus in Jayapura City, Thursday.
However, Dolfinus admitted that supervision efforts would not be optimal if they did not get support from the local community.
For this reason, he invited the RI-PNG border community to be active in conducting supervision related to marijuana smuggling.
"Indeed, in guarding the border area, cooperation with all parties including the community is needed."
"Because the community is the spearhead in preventing the entry of marijuana-type drug smuggling into the Cenderawasih Earth region," he said. ***
