JAYAPURA – Acting Assistant for Government of the Papua Regional Secretary, Yohanes Walilo said efforts to improve the quality of children's education are not only the government's duty.
On the contrary, the family has the most important role in developing the quality of children's education. The task of local governments should prepare the facilities and infrastructure and facilities needed.
"What needs to be considered at this time is that the family must also play a role in improving the quality of education. Because everything starts from the family and the government should facilitate it," explained Walilo to the press, after attending a flag ceremony commemorating National Education Day at the local Governor's Office Yard, Soa Siu Dok II Street, Jayapura City, Thursday (2/5/2024).
Meanwhile, regarding the commemoration of National Education Day, Assistant Yohanes hopes that this momentum can encourage Papuan education to be more advanced than before because education is crucial to support the development of a region.
"That's why we appreciate the Head of the Education Office in Papua who has worked hard for this goal. So that education in Papua will not be looked down upon as conveyed by certain groups, "he said.
Head of the Papua Education Office Christian Sohilait stated that his party was intensively encouraging the independent learning program in Cenderawasih Earth. However, it takes the cooperation of all related elements to maximize the results.
"All elements, including the family, have a responsibility to advance the independent learning program. We have encouraged this program through districts/cities and we are grateful that the results of the meeting two months ago have started to run," he said.
Meanwhile, from the results of the Education Office Coordination throughout Papua, Christian added that eight work programs were produced. Among them, encouraging all independent curricula in schools. Then carry out the eradication of illiteracy rates in all districts.
Furthermore, ensuring the education budget runs in the district through the support of the vision and mission of the Regent and ensuring stakeholder involvement in the world of Education.
"Then because the implementation of the Minister of Education Regulation Number 40 of 2024 encourages foundations that have worked for decades, we also encourage awards to be given by the government by how they can get teacher certification."
"Meanwhile, about the problem of limited facilities and infrastructure, we ask for support from the government so that there is comfort in schools," he said.
It is known that the commemoration of National Education Day at the provincial level was closed with the performance of Papuan traditional dances, marching bands, and paragliding carrying the Tut Wuri Handayani and Indonesian flags. ***
