SUPIORI - Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong handed over 13 units of Vsat Low Orbit (Starlink) during his working visit to Supiori Regency, Wednesday (4/9/2024).
The Starlink Vsat was received by the Regent of Supiori Yan Imbab, witnessed by the Head of the Papua Communication and Informatics Service, Jeri A. Yudianto and the Head of the ICT Division of the Papua Communication and Informatics Office, Thomas Sibi.
Jeri Yudianto said that the submission of Vsat is an effort to accelerate digital penetration, which the Papua Provincial Government is currently promoting in all districts. One of the Vsats handed over to the Supiori Regional Government will later be installed on the outermost island of Mapia.
Meanwhile, the choice of Starlink is considering the practicality and new internet backbone technology that has been officially released by its sellers in Indonesia, after the owner of Starlink met President Jokowi, some time ago.
"This Starlink offers internet stability in the form of a large bandwidth at 50 Mbps at a more economical monthly price for the size of Vsat."
"Besides that, Starlink is also very light and practical where it only goes through the installation process, because the modem has a LAN and WI-FI port and can be used immediately after activation. It only needs to be prepared for the access point, so that it can be used more by users and the radius of the WIFI range can also be wider," he explained, in a release received by the editor, Thursday (5/4/2024).
Jeri added, Vsat is currently an early and fast solution for areas with extreme geography in Papua that have minimal internet when a fixed board brand has not yet entered and M-Cellular is limited. ***
