JAYAPURA—The media is one of the important pillars of democracy in supervising government operations. This was conveyed by the Head of Communication and Informatics of Papua Province, Jeri Agus Yudianto, during a visit to the Antara news agency on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
During his visit, Jeri was received directly by the Head of the Papua Antara Bureau, Hendrina Dian Kandipi. On that occasion, Jeri conveyed the importance of the role of the media in overseeing development, according to him the media has a role as a balancer and supervisor, so that development can run by the expectations of the community. "The media is the spearhead for the community to get information, the role of the media as an extension of the community is crucial to become a social control over development activities carried out by the government," he said.
Jeri also conveyed that cooperation between the government and the media should continue so that synergy between the government and media partners can be established effectively and collaboratively. "We still hope that this cooperation that has been going on for approximately five years can still be carried out, of course, with all the dynamics that exist today," said Jeri.
In the same place, Dian also expressed her gratitude to the Papua Provincial Communication and Informatics Office on behalf of the Papuan Government for the cooperation that has been established so far. "Hopefully the Papua Provincial Government will trust Antara to work together in advancing Papua through the media," said Dian. ***
