JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government, through the Forestry and Environment Service, distributed as many as 1,500 tree seedlings in commemoration of the 2025 National Waste Care Day (HPSN), which took place at the Ex Venue Paddle PON XX, Friday (21/2/2025).
The tree seedlings were distributed free of charge to those present at the location at that time. In addition to distributing tree seedlings, a clean-up action was also carried out, which was also attended by the Acting Governor of Papua, the Indonesian National Armed Forces, the Indonesian National Police and related agencies.
"The tree seedlings that we distribute include Durian, Matoa, Duku and other types of seedlings," said Acting Head of the Papua Forestry and Environment Service, Aries Toteles.
He said that by planting trees, each individual has participated in preserving and protecting the forest and the local environment.
"The commemoration of HPSN National Waste Care Day 2025 is expected to be a momentum to strengthen our joint commitment to maintaining environmental cleanliness for a better future," he said.
In addition, Aristotle also said that the threat of waste is very high in Jayapura. Therefore, a campaign of concern for the environment and waste is important.
"We must improve moments like this so that everyone in Papua, especially the people in Jayapura, has concern for the environment," he added.
"The community has to sort their waste from home so that waste management in the future is more efficient," he concluded. ***
