JAYAPURA – Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong emphasized that the local government can no longer hold activities at hotels.
This is due to Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2025, which instructs local governments to carry out budget efficiency.
According to him, this condition certainly has an impact on the hotel business in Papua, which has tended to depend on government activities as one of the sources of income.
However, Governor Ramses encouraged the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) to be more innovative and creative.
"What percentage of government activities take place in hotels? You could probably count them on one hand. We hope that businesses innovate so that there is a balance," said Ramses.
"So PHRI must be able to rise and be creative in the midst of this situation to remain productive. If we force activities in hotels, it can't be done because there is already Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2025," he said again.
On the other hand, Ramses also encouraged the regency/city government and related technical Regional Working Unit to develop the tourism sector in Papua.
"Papua has extraordinary tourism potential but it needs to be optimized to attract more tourists," he said. ***
