JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government, through the Department of Animal Husbandry and Plantations, has confirmed that the local production stock of meat and eggs will meet the needs for Eid al-Fitr.
Acting Head of the Papua Provincial Department of Plantations and Animal Husbandry, MP Koibur, stated that the supply of meat and eggs will remain secure from March 1 to April 7.
“The stock of meat and eggs is sufficient, and we have anticipated this from March 1 to April 7. In fact, there are 930 cattle available,” Koibur explained.
Not only is local beef stock sufficient, but the local egg supply is also adequate, sourced from Jayapura, Keerom, and Sarmi. Additionally, the daily local egg production reaches 111,000 eggs.
“We can ensure that this stock will be sufficient until April 7, including the supply of chicken meat,” he said.
If the demand for meat or eggs exceeds supply, the government will bring in additional stock from outside the province to prevent shortages, especially in anticipation of increased demand ahead of Eid.
“The public does not need to panic or buy excessively, as our stock is secure until April,” he concluded. ***
