JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government fully supports the implementation of the Mobile IP Clinic event themed "Utilizing Intellectual Property Protection to Improve Regional Economic Growth."
The Mobile Intellectual Property Clinic, held in commemoration of World Intellectual Property Day 2025, took place on the 9th floor of the Governor’s Office on Saturday, April 26.
"Hopefully, this event will align our perspectives in providing public services related to Intellectual Property Rights to improve the economy and the welfare of the community," said the Acting Governor of Papua.
He stated that digital progress should be utilized as effectively as possible to create works that provide the greatest possible economic benefit to their creators. New creations resulting from someone’s creativity must be legally protected through copyright and trademark protections, especially for MSME actors in Papua Province.
“The relevant agencies must continue to assist the public and coordinate with the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights regarding intellectual property rights,” said Ramses.
According to him, understanding intellectual property rights (IPR) is essential in the midst of rapid digitalization to prevent claims over products, brands, or even creative ideas by other parties taking advantage of the situation. Therefore, creative economy players are strongly encouraged to register their works under IPR.
"The creative economy is a concept of economic development in the new economic era that intensifies the use of information and creativity, emphasizing ideas and knowledge as the main factors of production," he concluded. ***
