JAYAPURA – Acting Governor of Papua, Agus Fatoni, together with Acting Chairwoman of the Papua PKK, Tyas A. Fatoni, visited the children of the Pembawa Terang Orphanage in Holtekamp, who are temporarily staying at the Papua Police Academy (SPN) dormitory in Jayapura, on Monday (October 6, 2025).

The visit reflected the Papua Provincial Government’s care and moral support for the children, who recently lost their home in a fire. Fatoni personally greeted and interacted with the children, encouraging them to stay strong, cheerful, and optimistic about their future.

“I want to tell you not to be sad — stay positive and keep your spirits up. Many people care about you and are helping. The orphanage will be rebuilt, and you must continue your schooling,” Fatoni said to the children.

He emphasized the importance of education as the key to a better future, reminding the children not to give up on their studies, as many scholarship opportunities are available for those who excel.

“What matters most in school is your spirit and determination. Money should not be an obstacle, because there are many scholarships to help. If you truly want to study, there will always be a way. Stay enthusiastic, cheerful, and happy. Study hard so you can create jobs, earn an income, and live a better, more successful life in the future,” Fatoni encouraged.

Meanwhile, Maria, Chairwoman of the Pembawa Terang Kehidupan Foundation, expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the Papua Provincial Government for their concern and support.

“Every day we give thanks to God because He has been so good to us. We are still given life, protection, and strength. Today, we sincerely thank the Acting Governor for his visit and care,” Maria said.

She added that after the fire, the children’s condition has gradually improved.

“The children can smile again; their spirits have returned. The support from various parties, including the Acting Governor, has given us strength to keep moving forward,” she said.

Through this visit, Fatoni reaffirmed the Papua Provincial Government’s commitment to continue supporting the community—especially children and vulnerable groups—so they can maintain hope, enthusiasm, and have the opportunity to grow and develop optimally. ***
