JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government has received an additional transfer of IDR 100 billion from the central government through the Ministry of Finance. The extra funds are expected to strengthen the region’s fiscal capacity in supporting development and improving public services.
Acting Governor of Papua, Agus Fatoni, stated that the central government’s support demonstrates its strong commitment to accelerating development in Papua.
“Yes, we have received confirmation from the Ministry of Finance that Papua has been granted an additional transfer of one hundred billion rupiah. This will certainly serve as important capital for us to strengthen regional development,” he said after leading the joint civil servant assembly in Jayapura on Monday (October 6, 2025).
Fatoni emphasized that the use of the funds must be carried out efficiently and precisely targeted. All planning and budgeting, he continued, should focus on programs that have a direct impact on community welfare.
“The available budget must be used efficiently and effectively. All planning must truly be directed toward initiatives that deliver tangible benefits,” he stressed.
He also reminded officials to avoid allocating funds for non-priority activities. Every program, he added, must be implemented with transparent and accountable reporting.
“Avoid non-priority or excessive spending. We must make the most of the available funds, implement programs properly, and prepare accountable reports,” Fatoni said. ***
