JAYAPURA – The Regional Development Planning Agency (Bapperida) of Papua Province held a strategic regional development meeting attended by the Deputy Governor of Papua and the Acting Regional Secretary.
The meeting, held in the Regional Secretary’s Meeting Room at the Papua Governor’s Office on Thursday (October 30, 2025), discussed two key agendas that will shape the province’s future development direction.
The meeting focused on two main issues:
(1) the Follow-up Coordination Plan for Sustainable Forest Area Adjustment Proposals in Papua Province, and
(2) the Preparation for Participatory Planning and Public Consultation Process in formulating the Preliminary Draft of the Papua Provincial Medium-Term Development Plan 2025–2029, which is designed to be inclusive and evidence-based.
Head of the Regional Development Planning Agency of Papua Province, Jimmy Thesia, stated that through these two agendas, the Papua Provincial Government is committed to implementing a transparent, collaborative, and community-centered planning process.
“We want to ensure that regional development planning delivers the greatest possible benefits to the people of Papua,” Jimmy said.
The meeting also marked an important step for the Papua Provincial Government in synchronizing spatial planning data and policies to support sustainable regional development. This alignment is expected to ensure that development programs are implemented effectively and efficiently.
The preparation of the Preliminary Draft of the Papua Provincial Regional Medium-Term Development Plan 2025–2029 will also involve participatory planning and public consultation processes, aiming to ensure that the regional development plan truly reflects the aspirations and needs of the community.
“With strong commitment and collaboration, the Papua Provincial Government is optimistic about realizing better and more sustainable regional development for the people of Papua,” Jimmy concluded. ***
