JAYAPURA – Papua Governor Matius D. Fakhiri stated that the benefits of Special Autonomy have indeed been felt by the community, although they have not yet been evenly distributed.
“We must be honest that the people have felt Special Autonomy, but it has not reached all levels comprehensively,” Governor Fakhiri said.
Therefore, he continued, the provincial government will closely monitor the proper utilization of Special Autonomy funds. “We will pay close attention to this and ensure that Special Autonomy truly aligns with what grassroots communities expect,” he added.
One of the steps taken recently was inspecting a hospital. According to Governor Fakhiri, the development of Papua must begin with health. If the people are healthy, the future will also be better.
“If we truly want to help Papuans, then what happened yesterday should not occur, where a mother died. These are the people who must be helped, because they are the ones who will give birth to Papua’s children, the future golden generation of Papua,” he concluded. ***
