JAYAPURA — The Papua Provincial Government, together with hundreds of residents, civil servants, community groups, volunteers, and various other elements of society, carried out a community clean-up action at Lukas Enembe Stadium following the unrest that occurred after the playoff match between Persipura Jayapura and Adhyaksa FC on May 8, 2026. The collective clean-up effort was conducted as a form of shared concern to restore the stadium — a source of pride for the Papuan people — so that it can once again be clean, organized, and comfortable for public use.
In its official statement, the Papua Provincial Government expressed appreciation and gratitude to all parties who directly participated in the stadium clean-up activity.
"The Papua Provincial Government sincerely expresses its gratitude for the participation, effort, and cooperation of all elements of society who worked together to clean the Lukas Enembe Stadium that we are proud of," the statement said on the official Papua Provincial Government website.
The clean-up activities were carried out in several parts of the stadium, including the spectator stands, access routes, outer yard areas, and other public facilities affected by the disturbances during the match.
Matius D. Fakhiri, Governor of Papua, together with Aryoko Rumaropen, also encouraged the public to use this moment as a shared reflection on the importance of maintaining sportsmanship, security, and public facilities that serve as valuable assets and symbols of pride for Papua.
The Papua Provincial Government emphasized that Lukas Enembe Stadium is not merely a sports facility, but also a symbol of togetherness and hope for the emergence of future young Papuan athletes.
"Let us continue to protect and care for Lukas Enembe Stadium so that Papua's talented young generation can grow, develop, and bring honor to the great name of Papua," the statement continued.
Through the spirit of cooperation and unity, the Papua Provincial Government hopes that all members of society will continue working together to maintain a safe, peaceful, and conducive environment for the advancement of sports and harmonious development in Papua. ***
