SARMI - Communication and Informatics Department of Papua in this year's work program, began to encourage the provision of public internet access in Sarmi Regency.

 Sarmi is the only district in the Papua region, which will get internet access in a number of public facilities and places of worship.

CCTV and Videotron also will be installed in public areas to assist the local government in supporting services in the field of information technology infrastructure.

"Of course, to realize this program, it is expected that the Sarmi Regency Government can provide location and land and power supply facilities or electrical energy supply devices," explained the Head of the Communication and Informatics Department of Papua, Jeri A. Yudianto in a release received by the editor, Thursday (24/3/2022) after meeting the Regent of Sarmi E. Fonataba, in Sarmi.

According to Jeri, specifically in public areas the service used is Wifi Manage Service (WMS) with a capacity of 100 Mbps in collaboration with PT. Telkom Indonesia.

However, for the installation of internet that is hoarded with CCTV at every WMS location, it is only done in the district capital that has received Fixed Line Access service of PT.Telkom Indonesia.

Sarmi Regent Eduard Fonataba welcomed the program and was willing to provide and facilitate the things needed.

"It is expected that this activity needs to be improved through technical agencies in Sarmi Regency. So that the program is sustainable for the welfare of the people in Sarmi Regency," he said.

The Regent also asked relevant agencies in his region to have the spirit of digital education through the expansion of the benefits of the existing ecosystem, because it is one of the efforts to achieve the Vision of Papua Province in 2019-2023 under the leadership of The Governor of Papua Lukas Enembe, namely realizing Papua rise, independent and prosperous. ***
