JAYAPURA - Chairman of the Central TP PKK, Tri Tito Karnavian asked all relevant parties in Jayapura City to intensify the provision of additional food to children to reduce the prevalence of stunting in Port Numbay, which until mid-2024, is still above 20 percent.
"The data on the prevalence of stunting in Jayapura City is high, even though we are targeting 14 percent nationally."
"Here (Jayapura City) is above 20 percent. I don't know if it can be lowered in 2024 but at least there must be an effort by intensifying the provision of additional food to children," explained Tri Tito Karnavian during a working visit to Skouw Mabo Village, Muara Tami District, Jayapura City, Thursday (25/7/2024).
The working visit of the Chairman of the Central TP PKK was in the context of monitoring and evaluating 10 PKK programs in the regions and the delivery of government assistance in the form of 500 food packages.
Tri Tito Karnavian highlighted the importance of providing adequate nutrition for children from birth to the first 1,000 days. If they do not get enough nutrition the child has the potential to be stunted. Therefore, parents must have planning before having children.
"It means that it is useless for mothers if we have many children but burden the country, society and family. It is useless, even though we as human beings must be able to be useful to society and its surroundings."
"The children are entrusted by God need to be prepared to become a good generation and can be proud for the country to continue development. Therefore, we must prepare for it because there are costs needed, so there must be careful planning so that children grow up healthy and have the skills to compete," she urged.
Previously, the Chairman of the Central TP PKK and his entourage also took the time to see services at the Skouw Cross-Border Post (PLBN), Jayapura City.
