JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government has shown its commitment to regional financial management. The Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, welcomed the commencement of the preliminary audit by the Papua Representative Audit Board (BPK) on the 2024 Regional Government Financial Statements (LKPD).
According to Ramses, this audit is important to ensure transparency and accountability in the management of the regional budget. "What we plan is what we implement, as the Audit Board (BPK) supervises. We will strive to present valid and accountable data related to financial management," he said.
Furthermore, Ramses revealed that the Papua Provincial Government has made various efforts to improve the quality of regional financial management. "We continue to encourage a good planning, implementation, and reporting process so that the results are good," he added.
However, he also acknowledged that there are challenges in the field, such as limited human resources (HR) and socio-economic dynamics that affect government performance. "We have conveyed these obstacles to the Audit Board and hope to continue to improve them. We hope this achievement can be maintained in 2024 after achieving a Fair Opinion Without Exception (WTP) in 2023," said Ramses.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Papua Representative Audit Board, Slamet Riyadi, emphasized that this audit is part of the mandate of the law. "This audit is an examination of financial statements that aims to provide an opinion on the report by assessing four important aspects," he explained.
Slamet also appreciated the commitment of the Acting Governor of Papua who is considered to have a great spirit in improving regional financial governance. "I am happy with the spirit of the Acting Governor of Papua. He strongly supports the improvement of financial governance for the progress of the Papuan people," he said. ***
