JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government aims to launch the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program in April 2025.
Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, has called on local governments to make necessary preparations to ensure the program runs smoothly.
"For Papua, this program will be implemented gradually after Eid. I also urge that public awareness and education on the benefits of Free Nutritious Meals begin immediately," Ramses stated.
According to him, public outreach is crucial to ensure that communities and stakeholders understand the program's objectives.
He emphasized the need to prevent resistance due to misinformation, as seen in some other regions.
"The Free Nutritious Meals program is part of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka's agenda, Asta Cita," he explained.
Ramses stressed that all local governments must support the success of this initiative, particularly as a strategy to reduce stunting rates in Papua.
"The program will be implemented in stages, considering the readiness of kitchens, raw materials, and transportation. As of now, out of nine regencies/cities, only Keerom and Jayapura City are ready," he said. ***
