JAYAPURA – In response to circulating information that a group of Civil Servants and members of the public in Papua are demanding the resignation of the Acting Governor of Papua due to several ongoing issues, the Papua Provincial Government, through the Head of the Papua Communication and Informatics Office, Jeri Agus Yudianto, S.Kom, would like to clarify the following points:
Currently, approximately 8,300 civil servants are working optimally under their respective duties within the Papua Provincial Government. The Acting Governor of Papua, Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Ramses Limbong, SIP., M.Si, after being inaugurated in August 2024, has consistently emphasized that all civil servants must continue to work professionally and remain neutral during the regional elections. This message has been repeatedly delivered on various occasions.
Regarding the demands related to appointments and positions, these have already been addressed under existing regulations. Specifically, Technical Recommendation requests have been submitted to the relevant authorities for Echelon 3 and 4 positions, and the selection process (selter) for High Leadership Positions is still ongoing.
During both the election process and the selection of members for the Provincial and Regency/City Legislative Councils (DPRP/DPRK), the government remains neutral. These processes are independently managed by the General Elections Commission or the selection committee. The provincial government continuously conducts dialogues to ensure that all processes run smoothly and under regulations.
Despite the current dynamics of governance and limited fiscal space, the Papua Provincial Government remains focused on its work—maintaining macroeconomic development indicators in Papua, increasing locally generated revenue under regional authority and regulations, and ensuring that all civil servant rights are well-protected. This enables civil servants to fulfill their responsibilities properly. The government also hopes that the public and all stakeholders will join hands in building a better and more advanced Papua, particularly in ensuring the success of the 2025 gubernatorial election re-vote. ***
