JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government has assured that the Additional Employee Income Allowance for civil servants within the provincial administration will continue to be paid, as the allocation has been included in the 2026 Regional Budget.
Acting Regional Secretary of Papua, Christian Sohilait, explained that the delay in Additional Income Allowance payments was not due to a lack of budget, but rather to the regional financial management mechanism.
"The Additional Income Allowance has been budgeted for the entire year. The issue lies only in the mechanism. There is a process involving regional revenue collection, cash flow management, and several priority expenditures that must be addressed first," he said.
According to Sohilait, the Papua Provincial Government remains committed to completing the Additional Income Allowance payments, as the program has been officially stipulated in the current fiscal year's regional budget.
"The issue is purely a matter of financial management procedures. Nevertheless, it is the government's responsibility because it has been programmed in the annual budget, and we will ensure that it is resolved," he emphasized.
Previously, Papua Deputy Governor Aryoko Rumaropen explained that the delay was not caused by insufficient funding, but by slower-than-expected regional revenue receipts due to central government fund transfers that had not been received according to schedule.
"This situation has affected the Papua Provincial Government's cash management, requiring the government to prioritize its financing commitments," he concluded. ***
