Papua Governor Matius D. Fakhiri called on all members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum to strengthen communication, synergy, and collaboration in supporting development across Papua.
JAYAPURA – Papua Governor Matius D. Fakhiri called on all members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum to strengthen communication, synergy, and collaboration in supporting development across Papua.
Fakhiri made the statement while attending a Coffee Morning and joint exercise with the Papua Provincial Regional Leadership Coordination Forum at the XVII/Cenderawasih Regional Military Command Headquarters in Jayapura City on Friday (August 21, 2026).
Fakhiri said the activity was not merely about exercising or holding an informal meeting, but also served as an opportunity to strengthen relationships and build trust among institutions.
“Exercise is not only about maintaining health and fitness. In the context of governance and development in Papua, joint exercise also provides an opportunity to build communication, strengthen relationships, and foster mutual trust,” he said.
According to him, informal communication can create broader opportunities for cooperation while helping each party better understand the challenges they face in carrying out their respective duties.
Fakhiri emphasized that Papua’s development requires collaboration from the planning and implementation stages through to evaluation. The solidarity of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum is considered an important asset in realizing the vision of “Achieving the Transformation of a Smart, Prosperous and Harmonious Papua – Papua CERAH.”
“We want to ensure that security and development move forward hand in hand. A safe Papua will provide greater opportunities for investment, education, healthcare services, economic activities, and improvements in community welfare,” he said.
He also called on all elements of society, including the government, the Indonesian National Armed Forces and Police, the business sector, academics, and the community, to work together in the spirit of cooperation.
“Let us make this momentum a new source of energy to strengthen coordination, build trust, and enhance our solidarity in carrying out our duties and serving the community,” he said.
Governor Fakhiri expressed hope that this spirit of togetherness would continue to be maintained to create a Papua that is safe, peaceful, smart, prosperous, and harmonious.
Meanwhile, Commander of the XVII/Cenderawasih Regional Military Command, Major General TNI Febriel Buyung Sikumbang, said that given Papua’s geographical conditions, close coordination among all stakeholders is essential to creating peace, security, and progress across the land of Papua.
“So this is not solely the responsibility of us, but a shared responsibility involving the regional government, the police, state institutions, religious leaders, traditional leaders, community leaders, and all components of society,” the Commander said. ***
