JAYAPURA - Acting Secretary of Papua, Derek Hegemur led the pronunciation of the ASN Neutrality Pledge in the 2024 Election, at Istora Papua Bangkit, Jayapura Regency, Monday (1/15/2024) morning.
The pronunciation of the pledge, one of the points, maintaining and upholding the principle of neutrality of civil servants in their respective agencies, was carried out after the Socialization of Neutrality for Civil Servants by the General Elections Commission and the Election Election Agency.
Furthermore, the signing of the ASN Neutrality Integrity Pact in the 2024 election by the heads of the Regional Apparatus Organization in Papua Provincial Government.
"The directive is clear that civil servants must maintain neutrality, so we do not participate directly in all stages of the 2024 elections. Conducting supervision, we will mobilize technical the Regional Apparatus Organization such as inspectorates and others," Derek told the press, on the sidelines of the agenda.
According to Derek, all civil servants in Papua are obliged to carry out the pledge and integrity pact as well as possible. This is important to create a conducive climate ahead of and after the democratic party throughout 2024.
"The point is not to participate in political activities or side with someone with indications of impartiality. Civil servants must have integrity, professionalism, neutrality and be free from political intervention," he appealed.
Chairman of the Papua KPU, Steve Dumbon said Papua is one of the areas prone to violations of the neutrality of civil servants. The data in 2020 recorded that there were around eight civil servants who were fired for being involved in practical politics.
"The civil servant was fired because he was a successful team, and participated in campaigns and others. This is contrary to the duties of civil servants so it must be sanctioned," he said.
Steve still said that the neutrality of civil servants has also been regulated by three laws. So if proven to violate, sanctions are awaiting.
" The lightest sanction is a criminal sentence of 3 months and a fine of IDR 2 million, the most severe sanction is being fired," he said. ***
