Pemprov Papua dan Surya Institut Sepakat Dorong Program Matematika Gasing di Empat Kabupaten

JAYAPURA - Pemerintah Provinsi Papua bersama Surya Institut sepakat mendorong penerapan program belajar matematika gampang asik dan menyenangkan (Gasing) di empat kabupaten baru. 

Empat daerah itu meliputi, Kabupaten Mamberamo Raya, Supiori, Waropen dan Keerom. 

Hal itu disampaikan Prof. Yohanes Surya usai bertemu Penjabat Gubernur Papua, Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun, di Jayapura, Senin (9/10/2023). Pertemuan tersebut juga turut dihadiri sejumlah Penjabat Kepala Daerah di Papua.

"Mengapa kita mendorong penerapan metode matematika gasing di satuan pendidikan empat kabupaten baru, supaya meningkatkan kompetensi numerasi di Papua. Sebab sejauh ini tingkat kompetensi numerasi di Papua agak sedikit rendah". 

"Sehingga kita kini fokus ke wilayah (kabupaten) Papua yang numerasinya agak sedikit rendah. Intinya, kita perlu mendorong agar numerasinya naik, supaya rata-rata secara nasional bisa meningkat," terang Yohanes.

Yohanes juga meminta agar pemerintah daerah menyiapkan data pengimbasan di daerahnya. Sebab sampai saat ini belum ada data pengimbasan, walaupun sudah berjalan di beberapa daerah. 

“Dalam pertemuan tadi respon pemerintah daerah sangat baik. Semua bupati/walikota sudah siap mengimbaskan. Kita harapkan dengan kesiapan itu terjadi kemajuan kompetensi numerasi di Papua,” ujar Yohanes.

Pihaknya berharap, seusai pertemuan itu ada tindak lanjut dari empat pemerintah daerah terkait. Yang selanjutnya bekerja melakukan pengimbasan ke semua pelajar di wilayahnya. Termasuk lima pemerintah daerah yang lebih dulu sudah menerapkan metode gasing matematika di sejumlah sekolah. 

"Tentunya para guru-guru dulu yang mengikuti pelatihan. Setelah itu, pemerintah daerah kerja keras mengimbaskan sendiri. Sebab kita hanya beri pelatihan satu kali saja, yang penting itu pengimbasan dilakukan oleh pemda setempat," tandasnya.  ***

JAYAPURA - The Papua Provincial Government together with the Surya Institute agreed to encourage the implementation of easy and fun mathematics learning programs (Gasing) in four new districts.

The four regions include Mamberamo Raya, Supiori, Waropen and Keerom regencies.

This was conveyed by Prof. Yohanes Surya after meeting the acting Governor of Papua, Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun, in Jayapura, on Monday (9/10/2023). The meeting was also attended by a number of Acting Regional Heads in Papua.

"Why do we encourage the application of the top mathematics method in the education units of four new districts to improve numeracy competence in Papua because the level of numeracy competence in Papua is a bit low".

"So we are now focusing on the Papua (district) region where numeracy is a bit low. In essence, we need to encourage numeracy to increase the national average," explained Yohanes.

Yohanes also requested that the local government prepare scanning data in its area. Until now there has been no scanning data, although it has been running in several regions.

"In the meeting, the response of the local government was very good. All regents/mayors are ready to impress. We hope there will be progress in numeracy competence in Papua," said Yohanes.

He hoped that after the meeting there would be follow-up from the four relevant local governments to scan all students in their area. Including five local governments that have already implemented the Gasing mathematics method in a number of schools.

"Of course, the teachers who used to follow the training, the local government worked hard to impact themselves.  Because we only give training once, the important thing is that the scanning is carried out by the local government," he said. ***
