Papua's Central Statistics Agency (BPS) announced that three Consumer Price Index (CPI) cities in Papua recorded inflation of 0.22 percent.
Where the increase also occurred in the CPI figure from 103.81 in October 2020 to 104.04 in November 2020.
According to Head of Central Statistics Agency of Papua, Adriana Robaha, inflation in the combined 3 CPI cities in Papua occurred due to the increase in the index rate in food, beverages, and tobacco groups; health groups; information, communication and financial services groups; as well as leisure, sports and cultural groups.
Meanwhile, according to the time series, the combined 3 CPI cities in Papua recorded a monthly inflation rate of 0.22 percent in November 2020. Where monthly inflation in November 2019 is 0.95 percent and monthly inflation in November 2018 is 1.37 percent.
"Meanwhile, the inflation rate for year on year 2020 is recorded 1.30per cent, where inflation year on year 2019 is 1.03 percent and inflation year on year 2018 is 6.83 percent," he explained.
Comparing between cities nationally and between cities on the islands of Sulawesi, Maluku and Papua (Sulampua), in November 2020, Merauke experienced inflation of 0.66 percent, Timika 0.03 percent, and Jayapura City 0.17 percent.
The highest inflation in Sulampua occurred in Tual at 1.15 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Timika at 0.03 percent.
"The highest deflation occurred in Kendari at 0.22 percent and the lowest deflation occurred in Palopo at 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the highest inflation nationally occurred in Tual at 1.15 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Bima at 0.01per cent".
"Then the highest deflation nationally occurred in Kendari at 0.22 percent and the lowest deflation occurred in Meulaboh and Palopo at 0.01 percent. By comparison, 3 CPI cities in Papua show that Merauke ranks 11th nationally and 5th at Sulampua level. Timika then placed 82nd at the national level and 17th at Sulampua level. Then Jayapura City ranked 69th at the national level and 12th at the Sulampua level," he concluded.
