Educators, such as teachers and lecturers, are proposed to be recipients of priority Sinovac Vaccines, just like health workers.
This is because educators have tasks that directly interact with students (with dozens of lives in one class), when the face-to-face learning system begins to open.
"We emphasize that education personnel are vaccinated as a priority because it is important for the health of them and students. Moreover, they will interact directly with students when learning when face-to-face begins to be encouraged".
"Therefore, once we remind that how important the safety and security of teachers, lecturers and students who carry out and follow the teaching and learning process, especially offline or face-to-face in school," explained Head of the Education, Library and Archives Department of Papua Christian Sohilait in Jayapura, Monday (1/18/2021).
According to him, Papua province currently has 18 thousand educators. That number has not been supplemented by education personnel totaling 22 thousand people.
Meanwhile, for the college level, there are four thousand lecturers in Papua, with the number of students from 46 universities and three public universities, which in total can reach 41 thousand people.
"Not to mention if the children have entered the school, where if calculated the total can be reached 600 thousand people who already include elementary, junior high, high school to SLB level. Therefore, we hope that later if the provision of vaccines is divided into three stages, where in the first stage is prioritized for health workers, well for the next stage is expected to be given to educators".
"So that when face-to-face learning is held, all educators are vaccinated and can be declared safe when interacting with students," he hoped.
