Papua's Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the trade balance of Papua in December 2020 increased by 5.5 percent when compared to November 2020.
"Cumulatively, the trade balance of Papua Province in January-December 2020 experienced a surplus of USD 1,717.91 million," explained Head of Central Statistics Agency of Papua Province Adriana Helena Carolina in Jayapura, Monday,
She said that the cumulative export value of January-December 2020 was valued at USD 1,917.91 million while the cumulative import value in the same period was USD199.46 million.
"Therefore, the cumulative trade balance of Papua Province in January-December 2020 increased by 101.07 percent compared to the cumulative trade balance in the same period of USD854.4 million," said Adriana.
Thus, he continued, Papua's trade balance recorded a surplus of USD382.76 million in December 2020. Surplus occurs because the value of exports is greater than imports.
"The value of Papua's exports in December 2020 was recorded at USD407.13 million while the value of Papuan imports in the same month was USD24.42 million," she said.
It is known that Papua's exports in December 2020 were recorded at USD407.13 million, an increase of 7.23 percent compared to the previous month of USD379.69 million.
Meanwhile, local imports in December 2020 were recorded at USD24.42 million in the form of oil and gas imports worth USD12.33 million and non-oil and gas imports of USD12.09 million
