The Papua Provincial Government continues to encourage the central government to map indigenous areas throughout the district and city. This is due to the complexity of land problems that occur throughout Papua.
"The land problem in Papua is very severe because each has claimed ownership".
"Therefore, mapping indigenous areas is very important so it must be encouraged that all implement," explained Acting Regional Secretary of Papua Province, Doren Wakerkwa in Jayapura, Tuesday.
Nevertheless, Acting Regional Secretary Doren appreciated the Jayapura Regency Government for its efforts to foster indigenous people in the region.
Jayapura Regency Government in the near future has planned to sign a memorandum of understanding in the framework of fostering indigenous people. So that it can be an example for other regions or districts and cities in Papua.
"The Government of Jayapura together with the Regional Office Agrarian and Spatial Planning / National Land Agency (ATR / BPN) of Papua Province will already sign a memorandum of understanding related to the handling of land issues, customary rights, forests and customary areas".
"This shows how the efforts of the Jayapura Regent so far have fostered indigenous peoples in his region. And this must be exemplified by other regents in Papua," he suggested.
Previously, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of ATR / BPN Surya Tjandra and his entourage visited Papua in the framework of agrarian reform efforts in Papua, in Jayapura.
