Head of the Communication and Informatics Department of Papua Province Jery Yudianto asked the public to submit the issue of racism which was later discussed to the authorities (police).
"The authorities will certainly follow up on the case of this issue of racism in accordance with the provisions of the legislation and processed as appropriate".
"So, I hope that the community remains calm so that security and order and comfort in Papua remain conducive," he explained in Jayapura on Tuesday, responding to the hate speech that Ambroncius Nababan made against Activist of Land of Cenderawasih, Natalis Pigai on social media.
Jery hopes that the community will not be provoked by the issue of racism which ultimately has the potential to cause conflict and disruption of regional security and order.
"That's why we do not get tired of reminding people to be wise to deal with this problem. Be patient and don't be easily provoked".
"Because we should not let the previous riots happen again, so again I urge us to be wiser to respond," he hoped.
On that occasion, Jery also urged the public to take part in social media, not to comment on or throw out statuses that have the potential to harm themselves.
Currently, social media abuse has the potential to entangle the ITE Law.
"For that, I hope we are wise in using social media. Because there is a law that threatens us if it is not wise to use our social media," he said.
