The Provincial Government of Papua stated that it has agreed with the Mimika Regency Government regarding the establishment of PT. Papua Divestasi Mandiri.
Regional Owned Enterprise (BUMD) will manage Freeport's shares as decreed by Regulation No. 7 of 2018 on PT. Papua Divestasi Mandiri, published by Papuan Governor Lukas Enembe.
This was conveyed by Acting Regional Secretary of Papua Doren Wakerkwa in Jayapura, Tuesday (2/16/2021).
"We have had a meeting with the Mimika Regency Government and we have made an agreement, we decided, agreed from this meeting, that all parties are committed and struggling to realize the establishment of PT. Papua Divestasi Mandiri,” he explained.
Although he did not explain the points agreed from the meeting, Doren confirmed that in the near future, his party and the Mimika Regent will meet PT. Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (Inalum), to encourage the formation of Regional Owned Enterprise.
"In essence, the results of the agreement (Papua Provincial Government and Mimika Regency) will be discussed by PT. Inalum, before March 2020".
"Indeed, several meetings between the Papua Provincial Government and Mimika regency have not produced a good one yet. Especially in the meeting of the regents does not exist. But today, we represent the Governor and the Regent of Mimika who has decided on a good result and we immediately take steps," he explained.
