The extraordinary plenary meeting taking the oath of appointment of inter-time change (PAW) for Vice Chairman I of MRP, term of office 2017-2022, was held in Jayapura, Thursday (15/4/2021) evening.
The meeting led to the appointment of Yoel Luiz Mulait as Vice Chairman I of the MRP for the 2017-2022 term, replacing Jimmy Mabel.
The inauguration by Deputy Governor of Papua Klemen Tinal, witnessed by Coordination Forum for Regional Leaders Papua as well as all Regional Apparatus Organization at the provincial level.
To reporters after the inauguration, the Deputy Governor made sure to instruct staff to immediately process PAW five vacant MRP memberships.
"Because the inauguration of PAW this time became a turning point for the Papua Provincial Government and MRP to work as a team and no longer separate or self-employment".
"Therefore, it is necessary to have the membership inaugurated immediately so that the two institutions (Government and MRP) can work into an inseparable unity, with the aim that the people living in Papua, both indigenous Papuans non-Papuans, can enjoy development in this area," he explained.
Klemen added, as a cultural institution in Papua, the MRP is given space to fill its members from representatives of five indigenous regions.
The institution is present not because of the request of Papuans. So do not let its members think that the MRP is a separate part of the Republic of Indonesia.
That is, the MRP is a container of the Republic of Indonesia that should be appreciated as the institution of the Papuan Parliament that communicates intensely with the government.
"The MRP has the task of creating a 'fence', so that we can not only live in Papua in a comfortable state".
"But we must live in Papua safely. Comfortable is number two, but safe is the main one. It is also the duty of the MRP to create a 'fence' so that Papua is safe," he concluded.
