JAYAPURA - The Regional Secretary of Papua, Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun, ensured that the local Food Task Force immediately moved to control the selling price of foodstuffs as instructed by the central government.
"We have even deployed the Papua Food Task Force to control food prices in this area".
"And the activation of the Food Task Force is as instructed by the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian," explained Sekda Ridwan in Jayapura, Monday (20/6/2022).
Meanwhile, related to the performance of the Food Task Force, continued the Secretary of State, this matter has been handed over to Assistant II and the Agriculture Service.
"It is likely that today they will have a meeting (for technical handling)," explained the Secretary of State.
Meanwhile, the head of Labor, Industry, Cooperatives and SMEs Department of Papua, Herman Bleskadit said that so far his party and related parties who are members of the Food Task Force have been monitoring food prices every day.
"So far, we have carried out that task of monitoring food prices every day in regencies/cities such as Timika, Merauke, Nabire and Biak," he explained.
Herman ensured that, from the results of monitoring, there had not been a spike in prices for certain food commodities. Even the distribution of food commodities from outside Papua is still running smoothly.
"But surely the spike in prices for certain food commodities could have occurred during religious holidays," he said.
It is known that the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavia asked regional heads to activate the Food Task Force in their respective regions to control food prices that have been affected by the pandemic and the Ukraine-Russia global conflict. ***
