SARMI - The Papua Provincial Government through the Marine and Fisheries Service (DKP) carries out on-the-spot services of fishery vessel documents for under 5 gross tonnage Small Passes and Fishery Vessel Registration Marks (TDKP) in Sarmi district.
The service activityheld at Fish Market in Sarmi Regencyfor three days (26 to 28 July 2023), involved 150 small fishermen who took care of the Small Pass and TDKP from 1,118 vessels in the area.
Head of the Papua Marine and Fisheries Service, Iman Djuniawal, stated that the purpose of the agenda was a commitment of the provincial government in providing convenience for ship owners.
Included in the management of fishing vessel documents, to the issuance of TDKP which is a database in the framework of the legal status of fishing vessels. "It is to access subsidized fuel and the capital in banks."
"In essence, this activity is very important and aims at the legal status of ships, as well as data in the context of access to subsidized fuel and access to capital at banks," explained Iman in Sarmi, Friday (28/7/2023).
Chairman of the Executive Committee, Agus Rahmawan, S.ST. Pi, M.Si said that the activity was a collaboration with the Sarmi Regency Government, through the local Fisheries Office, Sarmi City District Government, Class I KSOP Jayapura, UPP Keyahbandaran Sarmi, and local fishermen.
It is hoped that through this activity, fishermen can be facilitated in improving their family's economy and supporting the local regional income.
Sarmi Regency is located in the fisheries management area (WPPP) 717 of the Pacific Ocean which holds various potentialsincluding capture fisheries, such as large pelagic such as tuna, cob, skipjack and mackerel. Including the potential of demersal fish such as shrimp, snapper and other reef fish.
The potential of capture fisheries in Sarmi is expected to be managed sustainably to improve the fishermen's economy and local income. ***
