JAYAPURA - The Central Statistics Agency of Papua Province recorded that three CPI (Consumer Price Index) cities experienced inflation in July 2023.
Inflation in Merauke was 5.21 percent, Timika 4.93 percent, and Jayapura at 2.17 percent, with a combined yoy inflation rate of 3.40 percent.
Head of Central Statistics Agency of Papua Adriana Helena Carolia said the inflation occurred due to an increase in prices indicated by an increase in the expenditure group index in the food, beverage and tobacco group by 2.46 percent; clothing and footwear group by 1.39 percent and housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 0.90 percent.
"Then the group of equipment, tool and routine household maintenance amounted to 2.72 percent; health group by 0.99 percent; transportation group by 9.49 percent; leisure, sports and cultural groups at 3.92 percent; education group by 10.33 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group by 3.55 percent and personal care and other services group by 5.40 percent," said Adriana.
It is known that in July 2023, there was year-on-year (yoy) inflation of 3.40 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 115.45.
The month-to-month (mtm) inflation rate in July 2023 is 0.10 percent and the year-to-date (ytd) (January-July) 2023 inflation rate is 2.35 percent.
Meanwhile, the yoy inflation rate of foodstuffs in July 2023 was 0.76 percent, the mtm inflation rate was -0.52 percent, and the ytd inflation rate was 2.92 percent. ***
