JAYAPURA – Acting Governor of Papua Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun encouraged the Sarmi Regency Government to seriously reduce stunting rates in the local area.
The last report stated that the stunting rate in Sarmi Regency Government reached 17 percent of the population. "That is why, during the visit of Governor Rumasukun to Sarmi in the context of the opening of the 1,000 Waves State Festival which is a series of Cenderawasih Bay Sail activities yesterday, a number of assistance was handed over to reduce stunting rates". "In the form of mosquito nets 25,000 pieces, deworming 38,000 tablets and vitamin A 4,650 tablets. Then, 500 packages of childbirth, 20 packages of nutrition for pregnant women, then 450 packages of basic necessities," explained the Head of the Papua Communication and Informatics Agency, Jeri A. Yudianto, Friday (22/9/2023).
Meanwhile, to reduce extreme poverty and improve food security in Sarmi Regency, the Acting Governor of Papua handed over a number of assistance in the form of coconut seedlings in 11,000 stems, 10 tons of organic fertilizer, planting costs of IDR72,500,000, 1 unit nursery, and maintenance of seed gardens for 5 hectares.
There was also the provision of 1 unit of fish smoking equipment, 1 unit of cold storage, 50 units of coll boxes, 2 units of surveillance equipment in the POKWASNAS group and laying the first stone of the construction of an integrated fisheries area center (SKPT). "The Acting Governor also handed over books to students as many as 112 titles. Then in Sarmi, the Governor also planted cypress trees to prevent beach abrasion. Including the inauguration of Wagde Port which was marked by the signing of an Inscription by the Acting Governor of Papua," said Jeri.
